This is a photo taken in November 2004 of the Northside Dutchmen Band of New Ulm, Minnesota. I am a member of this band. The band members from left to right are Tom Franta, Joyce Dauer and Eddie Palmer. Back row. Wally Bauer, Roman Kahle, Adeline Wiltscheck and Loren Schaeffler.
Tom farms a few miles from New Ulm and plays a Hengel's concertina. Our band has enough players so that 1 or 2 of us can take a break without interrupting the music. Eddie works for the city of New Ulm and plays lead concertina. He has a Hengel's and a Pearl Queen double reed concertina. I have my own electronics repair business near New Ulm and repair concertinas and install midi systems in them. I play a midi equipped Patek quad concertina. Joyce works for a company that sells small mail order items. Joyce plays accordion and occasionally drums. Wally is a semi truck driver by profession. Wally plays bass horn and does the lead vocals. He is also the frontman. Adeline is retired and plays drums. Roman is also retired and plays trumpet.
The band recorded a cassette tape in 1998, another
in 2000 and the last in 2003. CD's are also available. We only play
locally within a short distance of New Ulm. We play more for fun than for any other
reason. Mostly German Style polkas and waltzes.
